When I walk down that long lonely trail,
I hear the singing of a song, and the telling of a tale.
The birds in the trees, they sing a familiar tune,
The animals utter the tale of ghosts on the moon.
As I walk along the trail with my trusted dog,
Not noticing or caring about the frog on the log.
It is very serene there - on a Sunday afternoon,
The start of a rabbit, or the stirring of a raccoon.
Here are my friends - the animals and the birds,
They say things -hard to express in mere words.
There's the ray of sunshine, peeking through the leaves,
And the buzzing and humming of a hive of bees.
If ever there was a place, which the Lord did not fail,
Then it was there - along that long lonely trail.
